Each of our staff at Pressman and Associates is highly trained in the best of traditional and new therapies for Wellness. We offer a powerful blend of psychodynamic insight, cognitive transformation, transpersonal perspective, hypnosis, biofeedback and body-oriented therapies. Ours is a holistic approach, recognizing that fulfillment can only be achieved with the full integration of mind, body and spirit. The "journey" of holistic counseling is an intensive, sometimes challenging and always exciting process of self-discovery. It is a process of uncovering the hidden fears which have kept us imprisoned inside ourselves, and breaking through these barriers to release our inner wellsprings of power, wonder and awe. This is far more than stress management or positive thinking. It is a process of erasing the very sources of stress and negativity so there is nothing left to manage. With this we achieve the ultimate goal of the Self--a profound freedom to choose our life path and see it to fruition. RELATIONSHIP COUNSELING

 

Loneliness, isolation, feeling invisible, like you don't really matter...these are some of the most painful experiences in life. And that's why we all seek relationships. The hunger for relationship is perhaps the most powerful drive of all. It compels us to do extraordinary things...both positive and negative. It is responsible for many of the major decisions of our lives. From marriage to children, career and finances, politics and war, relationships literally make the world go 'round.

Clearly, the challenge of a successful relationship can be daunting. We spend our lives longing for fulfillment with another person or people and can create quite a complicated web in the process! Layer upon layer of confusion, misunderstanding, hurt and unfulfilled expectation accumulate through a lifetime to leave us bewildered and in pain about "what went wrong". 

The real challenge of any relationship is to remove the barriers that hide the true Self. This is the secret of intimacy. We must learn how to open the gates to who we really are in order to join with another and experience the fulfillment we seek. When we are intimate with another person, we feel joined with them, a deep empathy and resonance that can be amongst the most meaningful experiences in life. It is called love -- not necessarily the fairy-tale kind of living "happily ever after"...life is more challenging than that. But with the right tools and a deep understanding of the barriers that cause us to hide ourselves and bump up against each other, we can find the true experience of intimacy and live lives that are joyful, meaningful, whole and complete. 

At Pressman and Associates, we use a combination of deep insight into the sources of the conflicts you are experiencing, and action-oriented "tasks" to move through the barriers to intimacy -- powerfully and thoroughly. Communication skills are only the beginning. Once one becomes adept at the process of self-understanding, it's easy to see how to stop the same old tired patterns that get us into trouble, and then navigate through the other person's barriers as well. And once past these barriers, you will develop the skills to ask for what you truly want in a way that no longer arouses the other's defenses, and help them do the same. For the great discovery of this kind of work is this: People actually want to give you the love you seek. Only their fear of not getting it in return keeps them from doing so. When one person in the partnership finds the keys to asking for or giving love in a way that does not threaten the other, a happy outcome is inevitable.

LIFE COACHING

Life coaching is a dynamic, results-oriented approach to living an extraordinary life. It differs from counseling in that it focuses exclusively on helping you define and clarify your goals and then taking the actions to reach those goals with power and with purpose. The chief "work" of coaching is to vigorously move through the obstacles to your goals, that you may see real results in the timeframe you set.

It is said "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, each time expecting different results". Life coaching takes a person out of the rut of creating the same unfulfilling experiences, to recreate who you are and redesign your life according to your highest ideals.

CASE STUDY

An already successful two hundred person manufacturing company employed our services after a recent move. Their goals were to improve performance, increase employee satisfaction, and reduce the stress imposed by the move. A team of our experts came in to study the environment. Interviews with select personnel and testing for needs assessment were performed. This resulted in the establishment of weekly group sessions in the Sales Department, specially selected for the project. Additionally, on-site "curbside" consultation was made available for all personnel to come to on an as-needed basis. 

The results were dramatic: Sales increased by 45%, absenteeism was reduced by 50%, and medical costs resulting from stress-related problems were also decreased by 50%. Verbal reports from randomly selected employees gave compelling testimony to a basic truth: when given the structure to express themselves, become involved, and act on their interests, people respond with greater productivity and higher quality in their work product.
